Develop:Brighton 2025
In July, thousands of games industry professionals from around the world descended on Brighton, to attend the UK’s biggest video games industry event, Develop:Brighton. This year was full of incredible talks by some of the industry’s most talented and most successful professionals. Out Making Games were there again in force again, to celebrate the incredible talent which creates the games we all know and love, and were invited to host and speak at a number of events, as well as hosting our own.
The OMG Leadership team also hosted our inaugural Develop:Brighton networking social, Spill the Tea by the Sea with OMG! Once again the ever-popular event sold out within 48 hours. It saw almost 250 LGBTQ+ members of the video games community and allies from a plethora of studios, publishers and beyond attend and enjoy mingling in a relaxed, secure atmosphere. Huge thanks go to our event sponsors this year, SuperMassive Games.
Elli and James hosted this year’s LGBTQ+ Round Table entitled ‘Being and Supporting LGBTQ+ in the Industry in 2025 and beyond’. The room was packed with LGBTQ+ industry professionals, as well as allies working in the industry, wanting to learn how their businesses and titles can offer support, and vice-versa. It was a safe space for individuals to speak and express their opinions, and learn from each other. The conversation never let up and feedback has been incredibly positive, so huge thanks go to everyone who attended and contributed, and to the team at Develop who hosted us.
OMG were also invited to attend and speak at various other events, including UKIE’s Festival of Food, alongside Women in Games, both of which are fantastic organisations which, like Out Making Games and others, stand together to make the industry a better, safer, more inclusive and therefore more productive place for all.
So, a huge thank you to Susan and the team at Tandem Events and Develop:Brighton for knocking it out the park again this year. At a time when there is so much change and uncertainty in the industry and the world, events like Develop:Brighton bring everyone back into the room and remind us: We are stronger together.
